Auckland Transport approached them to assist with developing COPTTM compliant temporary solutions to trial methods for slowing traffic around local schools in Auckland. The challenge was understanding the aims of AT and the schools and finding a solution that complied with COPTTM, and could be installed for one day only
Parallaxx’s support for this project focused on working with Fulton Hogan the main contractor to enable road maintenance works in the form of road rehabilitation and sealing operations. Due the nature of a maintenance contract, a high level of responsiveness to enable cyclic maintenance was required.
Auckland System Management (ASM) is an alliance between HEB Construction, Fulton Hogan and the Transport Agency to operate and maintain Auckland’s motorway network. The ASM is a new 9 year-contract that follows the Auckland Motorway Alliance (AMA) contract which ended on 30 June 2019. Due to the large amount of maintenance work required Parallaxx were asked to assist with additional Traffic Management Plans – or overflow.
The placement of overhead lines across the full length of Auckland’s rail network required the installation of bridge shields on every overbridge across Auckland to ensure safety of the high voltage lines from public above. 80+ locations with both sides of each bridge requiring multiple visits meant for a significant amount of quick-turnaround TMP design and management.
The final stage of Auckland’s Western Ring Route aiming to connect SH18 with SH1 . This was the first contract of its kind in New Zealand (a ‘Hybrid Alliance’) and Parallaxx were involved from tender time to encourage innovation in the Traffic Management space and ensure the best overall project result.
The Eastern Busway 1 portion of the comprehensive AMETI suite of projects involves an upgrade from Panmure Roundabout through to Ti Rakau Drive. A very narrow corridor in some places, some very major intersections, and a tidal-flow bridge all make for a complex and demanding upgrade project requiring detailed staging and coordination and some complex traffic modelling.
Numerous projects make up Auckland Airport’s extensive infrastructure programme over the next 10 years and beyond. One of these is the widening and improvement of the SH20A corridor leading into Tom Pierce Drive. Despite a scaling back of projects due to COVID-19 – this project will still continue albeit in a reduced capacity.
This major State Highway upgrade (part of the “Roads of National Significance”) utilises the Public Private Partnership (PPP) contract model and requires colossal earthworks and Greenfields road construction over a 20km+ length. Most site access is conducted off State Highway 1 and with volumes above 20,000 vehicles per day on regular occasions – safety is critical – complex geometric and site-specific signage solutions were necessary.
The new 2.5 km long pipe is part of the Northern Corridor Improvements Project, worked on jointly by Watercare and the NZ Transport Agency and sits in the lower section of the bridge spanning 110m. The upper portion is a new walkway/cycleway and provides better access to Albany Station and the nearby business district.
