Nelson St Cycleway

Parallaxx needed to provide expert Traffic Management knowledge to allow work to happen safely and efficiently around some of the busiest Auckland CBD Intersections. Parallaxx were part of the successful tender team and saw the project through to completion with a number of challenges around working space, traffic volumes and maintenance of property access along the way.

Nelson St 22kV Upgrade

Auckland’s CBD development over recent years (and continuing) means a higher demand on the electricity network and not unexpectedly, upgrade work is occurring in parallel to ensure supply can meet demand and network resilience is appropriate. A major component of that was the upgrade of the 22kV line running the full length of Nelson St. Obviously this is an extremely busy corridor meaning a high degree of planning and coordination was necessary to even break ground.

Murphys Road Upgrade

The Flat Bush area of Auckland is an extremely fast-developing suburb with some older roads needing extensive work to ensure appropriate capacity and safety. Murphys Road is one of those and major culvert widening, road widening and service relocation are necessary to extend this corridor to accommodate the growth. With an existing high-speed narrow carriageway, and an already very developed suburb, space is at a premium and numerous local schools present unique traffic flow challenges.

Muriwai Roundabout

Safety improvement project to construct a roundabout at the intersection of SH16 and Muriwai Road at Waimouku (northwest of Auckland). There were significant working space constraints due to the nature of the intersection and the placement of the new roundabout. We needed to maintain all legs of the intersection and there is a large volume of peak traffic using SH16 and Muriwai Rd at this location. There was also a school on Muriwai Rd within 100m of the intersection and heavy pedestrian numbers before and after school hours

Kauri Die Back Carpark Closures

Auckland Council required innovative solutions to temporarily close off car parks in a safe manner while maintaining access for maintenance due to the prevalence of Kauri Die Back across the Waitakere Ranges.

Kainga Ora Housing Developments

Since 2017, significant government funding has bene injected into the development (or redevelopment) of housing particularly in dense residential areas of Auckland. This is managed by Kainga Ora and their appointed alliance contractor – Piritahi Alliance – engaged Parallaxx to provide TMP design, TTM consultancy and Traffic Modelling in support of their numerous projects int he Auckland Region.

Hurstmere Road Streetscape Upgrade

The Hurstmere Road Upgrade project presents a number of challenges. There are many stakeholders on this street which would be affected by the traffic management. It was a challenge to create a solution that would cause minimum disruption to the local businesses while still completing the work.

Huia No1. Watermain Upgrade

Renewal of the large diameter watermain called Huia No.1 which has reached the end of its useful life. The watermain was built in the 1940s after World War II. To extend its life it was rehabilitated in the 1980s but now there is need to build a new pipe. Over the next few years, the 17km pipe is being built in sections across West and Central Auckland, in many cased through major intersection and long busy traffic routes.

Hunua 4 Watermain

This project is for Section 11 of the Hunua 4 Watermain project. This takes the pipeline from Market Rd through to Burleigh St in the city. Utilising busy, city streets as the route creates many issues involving high traffic volumes, noise in residential areas, access to businesses and residents, as well as very deep shafts that need protecting.

Hingaia Road

Widening of Hingaia road with 2 lane each way and a cycle way and upgrade pedestrian routes. It involved full depth pavement reconstruction of the road. Maintaining access was crucial as it is a main road for the area and there is a school right in the middle of the project area.
