Challenge

AS per the NZTA website "one of the most significant single pieces of new road construction in the lower North Island". And it is not an understatement. The project spans 27km from Mackays crossing to Linden. Most of the project was build in Greenfields but the tie in point has significant challenges due to the narrow carriageways to keep the traffic flowing while construction is happening.

Solution

We developed initial staging designs around SH58 and Johnsonsville bridges to ensure maximum traffic flows through the corridor. We also oversaw a number of traffic switches throughout the course of the project.

Results

Project nearing completion and expected to be open in time for Christmas 2020. Due to the complex nature of the geometry, Parallaxx's expertise in long-term and complex TTM design and installation was valuable at critical times over the project timeline.
