Salient VMS Boards
To individually assess over 170 VMS boards around the country, collate accurate information regarding the road environment they are situated in and recommend appropriate temporary traffic management methods for both the inspection of each board, as well as heavy maintenance too.
Road Safety Billboards
Across New Zealand every driver would have interacted at some point with a road safety billboard encouraging safe behaviour and good decision making whilst using New Zealand’s road network. The maintenance of these billboards is no small feat – and of course requires safe and efficient Traffic Management that largely goes unseen. With a huge number of sites, and a demanding maintenance programme, fast and responsive TMP design is critical.
Pukekohe East Reservoir
This project is almost entirely offline meaning the impact on the road corridor is via large vehicle movements (site access) and some service connections work only. The nature of the location however presented some unique road safety challenges in a high speed rural area not suited to accommodate large trucks moving to and from the site area.
Puhinui Station Interchange Upgrade
Access to the site was from Puhinui Rd, with Fairly high amounts of heavy traffic as well as a number of schools in the surrounding street. Access to the pedestrian over bridge was limited to able bodied pedestrians due to the removal of some of the access ramps.
Penrose to Glen Innes
Growth in and around Glen Innes in East Auckland meant that the existing power supply was being put under pressure, and increased capacity was required. Large trenches through bustling urban areas and through major intersection meant timing and clever TMP design were crucial.
Old Mangere Bridge Replacement Project
The northern end of the site is a popular route for cyclist with main cycles routes from the south and east passing through this area, so it was important to maintain safe access and warning of the works to cyclists.
NZTA TTM Design Advisor
The development of the NZ Transport Agency Training and Competency Model means a complete overhaul of the CoPTTM training system in New Zealand. NZTA looked to the industry for a singular TTM design advisor to assist with development and review of the new model materials and framework. That singular design advisor was appointed in 2019 as Darrin Humphries, one of the Parallaxx consultancy team.
NZTA Innovative Streets for People
To create a framework for NZTA to release to RCA’s for expanding footpaths and cycleways during the COVID-19 Levels due to higher levels of pedestrian and cycle use utilising TTM methodologies with less vehicles on the road. COVID-19 requirements have a 2m spacing between people not within their own “bubble” so utilising the carriageway is being explored.
Northern Interceptor
Construction methodology involved deep long trenches often on low volume roads. Clients preference was for the use of barriers however due to road constraints, these were often not able to be installed compliantly, posing additional risk to workers, as well as reducing the amount of work space affecting their productivity.
